Autism Spectrum Disorders Diagnostic Evaluation

A thorough evaluation and accurate diagnosis are critical to the development of intervention services that optimize your child’s achievement.  Dr. Johnson provides ‘best practice’ diagnostic services in order to thoroughly and accurately evaluate your child for an autism spectrum disorder and provide information to launch your child’s individualized treatment program. 


Assessment for Autism Spectrum disorders are:


  • Consistent with Best Practice guidelines and using Gold Standard evidence-based measures (e.g., ADOS and ADI-R); Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)

  • Performed by Dr. Johnson, a California Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorders and other childhood conditions

Diagnostic Assessment for Autism Spectrum may include the following areas:

  •  Developmental history (ADI-R)
  •  Social - communication and play skills (ADOS)
  •  Language
  •  Behavior
  •  Cognitive/Intellectual ability
  •  Adaptive functioning
  •  School and treatment program evaluation

Evaluation Results:


  • A complete diagnostic evaluation yields a comprehensive report providing detailed information about your child’s skills, including strengths and weaknesses, diagnostic impressions, and best practice treatment recommendations.

  • Parents may choose to have Dr. Johnson attend an IEP meeting to communicate results and assist in the development of IEP goals (not included in evaluation service).

Follow-up Services
:


  • Annual re-evaluation services are offered as recommended by best practices guidelines to provide ongoing objective measurement of your child’s progress and development.

  • Parents may choose to have Dr. Johnson regularly observe their child in school and/or treatment settings and collaborate with an IEP team or treatment team to support ongoing evaluation and progress. See Consultation services for more information.
